Sample Letter to Reopen the San Bernard Mouth.
Below is a very simple letter of support available for use as a go-by to send to TCEQ Please feel free to add your comments. The Draft MIP (Multi-year Implementation Plan) will be posted for 45 days in the Texas Register, during which time the public is invited to offer input that will help inform the determination of which activities to include in the Texas’ MIP and ultimately which will receive grant funds. As a reminder, eligible activities for funding under ”Bucket 1” of the RESTORE Act must directly benefit the coastal area and address ecosystem restoration, economic development and /or tourism. Written comments on the draft MIP should be submitted electronically no later than 5:00 pm central time on June 26, 2017, to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Under the letter, we have listed the other 3 projects that will affect the Brazoria / Matagorda Texas Coast. You may send in a letter of support on any of them you also support. Please share this information with your friends and business associates. Encourage them to engage in the Public Participation. Together, we can get this done.
Yes: I support the RESTORE Act Project to re-open the mouth of the San Bernard River (and keep it open) in southern Brazoria County, Texas by dredging in the Texas MIP.
The lower San Bernard Ecosystem in Brazoria County proposes to restore the historical flow of the San Bernard River to the Gulf of Mexico by dredging the mouth of the San Bernard River that is currently silted in. Restoring the flow will benefit the threatened and endangered species (specifically Piping Plover and Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle) or threatened habitat, essential fish habitat, decrease the dangerous and costly navigation of commercial Marine traffic through the west flood gate of the Brazos River crossing of the Intracoastal Canal, as well as improve the overall environmental and economic health of the Texas Coastal estuary system.
When the mouth of the San Bernard River by dredging in 2009, improvement of all of the above was seen immediately as well as other subtler improvements. Reopening the mouth has already been proven effective and economically beneficial.
